Birthday Girl

Lily turned 2 on Saturday. We celebrated by having a ton of friends over for a party. The kids colored some cute little wooden ornaments and played with all of our toys. Then we did an Easter Egg hunt that was a HUGE hit with the kids. I couldn't believe how fast they picked up those eggs! I wish we could have done it outside, but the weather was a little crummy and we still have a bunch of snow on the ground. Instead we did it in the dining room.

Everyone enjoyed the pizza and cake. Grandma Argh made the cute bunny cake. Mmmm... Lily liked it so much, she had 2 pieces!
In other Lily news, she had her 2 year check-up on Monday. Lily weighs 23 lbs - that puts her into the 10% Club! Yahoo, Lily! Also, her pediatrician and I talked about retesting Lily for her milk allergy. I am positive from the reactions I have seen (we've had a couple of accidental milk ingestions) that Lily is still allergic to milk. I didn't see any reason to draw blood unless we absolutely had to. Lily's pediatrician agreed. We'll probably test her on her 3rd year check up. Until then, it's nuthin' but soy for this little girl.

Great News All Around

I forget how hard it is to get 4 people smiling at once, especially when 2 of them are under 3~
Sharon took this picture of us at Darla's wedding. Speaking of....

We had a great time at Darla's wedding. I have nothing good to say about the Americinn in Wisconsin Rapids or the hotel situation in general in that town, however that is neither here nor there and will perhaps be a post for a different day. Darla was radiant in her dress - and a good time was had by all.

Now, on to the news of the week. Drumroll please............ Lily now weighs 19 lbs, 9 oz! Yes, she put on over a pound in the last 3 weeks. Thank goodness for calorie supplements! She's now in the 7% and her doctor isn't worried about her anymore. Her height was questionable, but I think that was a measuring inaccuracy more than anything. If she can continue gaining weight, even a slow weight gain, I will be happy.

Next drumroll....... Addie has gone all day in big girl underwear for 3 days now! She is doing incredibly well. I was really concerned yesterday when we had to leave the bookstore because she needed to pee and absolutely refused to use a "big potty." Only the training potty will do for this girl. However, Addie made it all the way home without an accident. I went back to the bookstore today and got a book for her as a reward. The Kiss That Missed
I also had to appologize to the clerk because we left the kids section a little messy when we literally ran from the store. I also picked up Magyk and Flyte ~ Book 1 and 2 of the Septimus Heap series. We listened to Magyk on our roadtrip and I think it will be a good bedtime story to read to the girls when they are a little bigger. I'll wait to get Book 3 when it comes out in paperback.

We have big excitement this weekend, Mona and Boppa Dude, Auntie Reen, and Auntie Em & her family are all coming to our house. Hopefully I'll have good pictures to show from the zoo.

Whew!

Lily had her 12 month appointment this week. Aside from her actually loosing weight (a few ounces) from her last visit (at least she grew in height and head circumference or I'm sure they'd be discussing how horrible a mother I am!!) we got her tested for allergies. The good news is that she is not allergic to wheat. The bad news is that she is allergic to milk. And really, her levels were low enough that the dr. is fairly optimistic (I hope I can put those words in your mouth Shar) that she will grow out of it by age 2 or 3. That's the hope anyway. Soooo.... that means I can drink beer! However, we still need to read labels to make sure nothing has milk or casein in it. Nothing but soy cheese, soy yogurt and soy milk. Oh yeah, did I mention that there's a 10% chance that she would be allergic to soy as well? Sheesh! I guess we wait and watch on that one. In addition to taking milk out of our diet, I need to work on fattening her up. Since I don't want to give her junk and unhealthy stuff, I need to work on including healthy oils in her diet. Apparently coconut oil is really good, as is fish oil.

On a totally different note (in an attempt to make this less of a nutrition blog) we got the most adorable pictures taken last week. We got Addie and Lily's pictures taken with real live bunnies. I cannot believe how well behaved Addie was! Not that she's a badly behaved child, but when you take out a camera and ask her to sit still she just gets totally wild in a way that only a 2 1/2 year old can. However, you dangle the carrot of petting live bunnies in front of her, and she becomes a very well behaved little girl. I would love to show the pictures to you... unfortunately because they're professional pictures, I can't. Bummer. I haven't downloaded the pictures from Lily's birthday yet either... bad Momma!
